Summer is upon us and it’s time to bust out your breezy outfits to stay cool as a cucumber. However, when it comes to these cool outfits there’s no doubt you’ll be showing a little more skin than usual. The question is, is your skin ready for the blazing heat? Don’t beat yourself up because here are some ways to achieve happy and healthy skin this summer:
Ice, Ice Baby!
In this crazy weather, you feel like you’re breathing lava and only an ice-cold soda or sugary drink will wash the heat away. As tempting as this might be, it will surely take a toll on your skin because all that sugar won’t have sweet results. Healthier alternatives are chilled fruits like grapes and strawberries or veggies like cucumber and carrots, they are surprisingly refreshing to eat on a hot afternoon. You can also get creative and mix and match the fruits and vegetables.
Lotion for Lotion Haters
Getting yourself moisturized is a little bit of a challenge or a nuisance for lotion haters like me, most especially in this scorching summer. But fear no more lotion haters because there are alternatives to sticky and greasy lotion. First off, you can find in-shower lotions that you apply at the very end of your shower time, so no sticky feel just soft and moisturized skin (See Nivea’s In Shower Lotion). Second, not all lotions are gross and weird but some out there leave the moisture minus the sticky feeling like Celeteque’s Hydration Moisturizer.
One word: Sunscreen
“Sun’s out; buns out,” is the caption of the season but before you don your summer outfit don’t forget to lather on your trusty sunscreen. If you are quite new to using sunscreen, just remember to choose one that can protect you against UVA and UVB rays and at least SPF 15 or higher. Allow the product to set for about 15 to 30 minutes before going out and about.
Good ol’ Water
Last but not the least is water. It’s a no-brainer that we need water on the daily but how many glasses do you drink in a day? See, it’s easy to drink any drink but nothing beats a tall glass of water – no carbs, gluten-free and non-GMO, just the good stuff. You can also switch it up by infusing your fave fruits or just keep it simple by adding some lemon slices.
Now, you’re ready to conquer this heat with happy and healthy skin! Add to this list, you can also share your summer hacks to keep cool.
