When Krissha Viaje wasn’t able to claim several first places in various races in which the ultimate prize is her dream of becoming a celebrity, she almost threw away the most important part of her journey: the experience.
Krissha’s earliest memory she can retell is herself performing on top of her lungs – singing her heart out and dancing to the tune of old folks songs. Singing is her passion would be an understatement for Krissha adores not only singing but also has been in love with dancing – her whole inclination to performing is not just a craft or bunch of talents she acquired over the years but having to perform – showcasing what she loved has always been the burning passion that she wants to share to everyone.
But not everything is a walk in the park.
She lost multiple times. But she continued trying.
Joining a singing contest was her first try but wasn’t able to conquer the first place. She didn’t stop but pursued still, after a few years, she entered a reality television show. With a seemingly almost clear victory, Krissha faced yet another disappointment. She never made it to the final cut.
But there were moments of conflicting decisions – of wanting to stop in the middle and choose to change course. “I wanted to quit,” she said, after recalling one of the most heart-breaking moments in her life. It was a birthday concert organized by her mom to thank all of the those who supported them through the years. They rented a place, hired workers, planned the event and invited people, and there were even some who vouched their attendance and promised to show their support but fortuitous events happened – some weren’t able to attend because of the weather, and some opted to return to their provinces because of conflicting personal schedules.
There were unpaid dues, broken promised and tarnished hope. It was the breaking point, the deciding moment whether to pursue what she truly loved or choose a different path.
But she didn’t and continued what fires her heart.
She pursued still, knowing what her heart truly desired, she managed to get through the hurdle, her family always on her side. When there seemed to be no light in her darkest days, she found solace in her family. It wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies nor glitz and glamor but it was a series of ups and downs, detours and roadblocks.
But along the way, Krissha has learned that to reach her dreams, it meant she needed to stumble and fall for several times. Krissha already withdrew from the race – not even dreaming to reach a first place.
Her last birthday concert Oct 29 at URBN QC was a success as many people were able to witness her passion, determination and her big heart. However, they weren’t able to raise fund for the human trafficking victims due to high production cost and cheap ticket prices. Despite the circumstances they still continued their help for the beneficiaries and are now planning on doing something for them.
Being a part of GirlTrends and be able to showcase her talents in front of many people is the start of a journey. A part of the buildings blocks that pillars her dream – she wasn’t able to grab the first places in the past but Krissha has learned that in those years of downfalls, she has learned and gained more than what she asked for. The experience of having to stand up every after she falls, is enough to warrant that she’ll be fine in the future no matter what detours she would have to go through.
No one should tell a person the time frame of his / her dream because achieving what you truly desire doesn’t have to compromise time. Slowly, baby steps – enjoy the journey, live the experience!
Krissha is taking her time. Because she realized that reaching her dreams wasn’t a game nor a competition – definitely not a race, but it is the adventure of her lifetime.
Dreaming is not a race, It’s an adventure!
