Are you into soda or bottled juices? It’s time to bid your favorite drinks good bye and have something healthier and more refreshing. People ask why they have to change their preferences. You might not know it but your favorite soda and bottled juices can cause weight gain, diabetes and heart problems. So for better health, drink a lot of water. One of the reasons why people don’t drink much water is that it can be plain or tasteless. But you can make it more delicious and effective by making it detox water.

What is detox water?

Detox water is any infused water recipe that helps flush your system of toxins and improves your health. You can simply chop lemons and cucumber and put it into the water then wait for two hours and you’ve got detox water that tastes that tastes so delicious. It has no calories and fills your stomach so you feel full that you won’t crave for sugary snacks. Studies regarding detox water and weight loss have even shown that it raises your metabolism! A faster metabolism means that you burn fats more and consequently lose weight. And while you are drinking your detox water, you are also giving vitamins and nutrients to your body that will make you healthier and more beautiful.

What can I get from detox water?
The nutrition benefits of detox water depend on the kinds of fruits you put in it. Watermelon, for example contains anti-oxidants, Vitamins A and C. Having large water content, watermelon offers immediate hydration. If watermelon is paired with mint, the combo may improve digestion along with reducing uncomfortable symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Orange boosts the immune system while ginger reduces nausea. A combination of orange and ginger detox can be effective in combating inflammation.
Lemon and cucumber are another popular detox water pairs. Lemon contains Vitamin C needed for collagen production while cucumber is rich in manganese and beta-carotene. Combining lemon and cucumber makes a perfect tandem against cancer, obesity and hypertension. Adding herbs like lavender can also add benefits to detox water. Lavender, for example can lessen the feelings of stress and anxiety while basil fights free radicals in the body. On the other hand, mint enhances memory. If you like, sweeten your detox water with berries which can improve sugar levels, lower cholesterol and fight inflammation.
