SKIN CARE: Make Your Skin Happier

Happy skin is the one that is nourished from within so it glows and stays firm and smooth. Even without makeup, it’s admirably fresh and young-looking. Do you think you’ve got a happy skin? If you think you don’t have, there are probably several things you have to avoid such as dehydration. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water can keep your skin look bouncy and nourished because it ensures that nutrients are properly transported to the entire body including your skin. Water also helps your skin maintain moisture which increases skin elasticity, meaning, it can help prevent wrinkles, sagging and fine lines.

Here are the other things that you have to do to make your skin happier:

WASH YOUR FACE

Never ever end the day without washing your face no matter how tired you are. Sleeping in makeup causes a lot of skin problems. It clogs the pores that may lead to breakouts and skin redness. It also makes the skin drier that leads to collagen breakdown. This later leads to premature aging. On the other hand, the pollution that your skin absorbed throughout the day must be washed down the drain. Pollution causes skin discoloration, makes the skin dry and rough and accelerates skin aging. Now that you know, you’ve got more reasons to wash your face especially before bedtime.

MOISTURIZE

If you want to maintain the balance of your skin, moisturize your skin regularly. If your skin is too oily, find a moisturizer that quickly absorbs and hydrates without the greasy feel. Meanwhile, moisturizers with Shea butter or olive oil can heal and relieve dry skin. Shea butter has been proven effective in conditioning, toning, and soothing dry skin because it contains high concentration of fatty acids and vitamins. Olive oil does the same but it does more for the skin as it helps in preventing signs of aging.

EAT MORE HEALTHY FOOD

Whatever you eat shows in your skin, so pick those that can really help your skin look and feel beautiful. There are three kinds of food that you need to eat as you grow older. One is group is the leafy green vegetables which contain skin vitamins to give your glow back. Leafy greens contain Vitamin A that helps fight acne; Vitamin C that helps the body produce more collagen; Vitamin E that protects skin from cell damage; beta carotene that repairs the skin and many others. Also, eat more nuts because they are a good source of protein which is necessary for skin tissue repair and degeneration and Vitamin B which removes toxins and improves blood circulation. Lastly, put more fatty fish on your plate because they are rich sources of Omega-3 fatty acids that keep skin silky soft and moisturized. If your skin is chronically dry, you might have Omega-3 deficiency.

AVOID DRINKING ALCOHOL

Over-indulging on tipples can expose the skin to several problems. Cocktails, margaritas, wine and vodka mixes are all loaded with sugar, so they can cause skin problems such as acne. Beer, on the other hand, is salty that is why it can cause water retention making the skin look puffy. Since alcohol is a diuretic, it can cause body and skin dehydration especially when party-goers skip drinking water for cold booze.

AVOID STRESS

Modern living introduced a long list of the sources of stress. You all have the reasons to get affected but this does not mean that you will allow stress to pull you down. Chill out! All things pass. Besides, stress makes the skin oily making it more prone to acne. The worst thing is that it makes the skin more prone to allergies, eczema and psoriasis. So, know your limits. If you think that you’re getting too much of a thing, slow down. This will make you and your skin a lot happier.

TAKE ANTI-AGING SUPPLEMENTS

As we grow older, the food that we eat may not be enough to support our skin needs. Taking supplements is the answer.
